Shepherd's Pie ( Minced Lamb baked with Mashed Potatoes)

"Shepherd's Pie" is an English dish, traditionally made with mince lamb/mutton with a crust of mashed potato.
Its very easy to make, but yes the baking time is anywhere between 25-35 minutes, but trust me its worth the wait, 'cause this pie is most mouth watering and comforting and perfect for dinner on a cold winter evening.

Serves 3
Ingredients:
Mutton/Lamb mince - 250 gms
Green peas - 2 tbsps - par boiled
Carrot - 1 small - cut into cubes - par boiled
Onion - 1 - finely chopped
Garlic - 3 cloves - finely chopped
Mushrooms - 4
Tabasco sauce or Red Chilly flakes - 1/2 tsp
Tomato puree - 1 tbsp
Tomato sauce - 1 tsp
Worcesterchire sauce - 1 tbsp
Potato - 2 large - boiled
Milk - 2 tbsp
Butter - 3 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Pepper - to taste

Method:
Take a heavy bottomed pan or cooker, keep on low heat, add 1 tbsp butter and fry the onions and garlic till lightly brown. Now add the carrots, green peas, mushrooms and lamb mince and allow the mince to cook. Now add the tomato puree, sauces, salt and mix well. If there is any water content, evaporate till the mince mixture is dry.
For making the potato mash, take a large bowl, grate the boiled potatoes after peeling them. Add 2 tbsps of butter, salt, pepper and milk and mix well till the mixture is smooth.
Baking the Pie
Pre-heat the oven at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, apply butter to the insides of a baking dish, and fill it with the mince mixture.
Now top the mince layer, with the mashed potato mixture.

Bake at 200 degrees for 25-35 minutes, till the mashed potato crust is golden brown.
You could grill the pie for 5 minutes in the end, if required, incase you are not able to get the golden crust even after baking for 30 minutes.
Serve warm...
